Additional Property Attributes

Property is an abandoned gas station. There is a building (OK Food Mart) and a pump island with canopy on the property. There was a suspicion of release opened by PSTD on 5/28/1997, due to an accusation by an environmental consulting company that found contaminants in a monitoring well on another property and thought they originated on this property. PST investigated and decided the claim was not valid, and closed the case on 11/25/1997. Although no contaminants were found, PST did discover that the proper release detection systems were not in place at this property, and took action with previous landowner to remedy that. The building on site will be used as a soup kitchen for NERCI (Northeast Resource Center) which currently serves between 600 and 700 people per day out of a small house east of this property. Phase II revealed some TPH and benzene in the soil along the flowlines. Former Use: Property was a gas station, but has been out of use for over a decade. Tanks are still in the ground. Marilyn Long purchased the gas station to use it as a soup kitchen for the nonprofit she runs, the Northeast Resource Center, Inc.
