Additional Property Attributes

At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property consisted of approximately 0.63 acres of land developed with the remains of a former grain elevator, including silos, concrete structures for holding and moving grain, and a former garage building. The Property structures were fire damaged. The remainder of the Property was developed with grassy areas containing piles of soils, concrete debris, storage of cars in disrepair, piles of tires, and miscellaneous s, such as a lawnmower, firewood, pallets, a 55-gallon drum used for fires, and household trash and electronics, among other items. Surrounding properties to the east and south were residential, with a fire department to the west, and railroad tracks to the north. The Property is serviced by Duke Energy for electrical service, Vectren for natural gas and Knox County Water for municipal water and sanitary and storm sewer.

Former Use: We were able to determine the first developed use of the Property as commercial grain elevator, which occurred between 1953 and 1958. The Property was vacant land until development in the 1950s with a grain elevator operation, which continued at the Property until 2006. The Property has been vacant since that time. We identified no RECs in connection with the Propertys historical use(s) as a grain elevator and unused land. We identified data failure due to lack of records prior to 1940. This does not represent a significant data gap due to the undeveloped nature of the Property prior to the 1950s. A data gap was identified from 1944 to 1953; however, it is not a significant data gap, as the Property usage did not appear to change during this time.
