Additional Property Attributes

The property currently consists of an historic church and attached three story former friary. The property was sold to The Commonwealth Companies, which has rehabilitated and repurposed the buildings for 20 senior housing units. There are also 20 new townhomes being constructed on vacant portions of the site are planned. 85 percent of the units will be considered affordable housing for people who earn 60 percent or less of the median income in Brown County. Former Use: The Property is currently the site of St. Mary's of the Angels Catholic Church and the former Franciscan Fathers' Monastery. St. Mary's of the Angels Church and Monastery was constructed in 1903. The church is oriented west-east facing Irwin Avenue, and a two-story plus attic monastery wing extends to the north. A large landscaped yard and paved pathways surround the building. A paved parking lot is located to the east. The property is currently owned by Assumption BVM Province (Franciscan Fathers). The property was sold to Friar House Flats, LLC, which rehabbed and repurposed the historic buildings for 20 senior housing units. There are also 20 new townhomes being constructed on vacant portions of the site. 85 percent of the units will be considered affordable housing for people who earn 60 percent or less of the median income in Brown County.
