Additional Property Attributes

The redevelopment consist of the addition a splash pad water park, a walking trail, and parking. Improvements to the existing Saab Park infrastructure includes two concession stands, restrooms, pavilion, and the basketball court.

Former Use: The subject property is improved with three baseball fields, a baseball announcer booth structure, a basketball court, two tennis courts, and a playground. A drainage ditch runs south to north on the east portion of the subject property, and Batchelor Creek runs east to west on the north portion of the subject property. The subject property has historically been used as a park and/or fairground area. The west-southwest adjoining property was historically used as the City Garage, which operated underground storage tanks. The USTs at the City Garage property were reportedly removed, and during removal soil contamination was reported. The site received a NFA status in 1995. The west adjoining property was historically operated as brickyard (with brick kilns) from approximately 1900 to 1916. The west adjoining property is currently developed with three warehouses reportedly used for storage by the City of Canton. The north adjoining property was historically and is currently used as an industrial property. Another north adjoining property was historically operated as an automobile service station and is currently operated as an automobile sales facility. The northeast adjoining property was historically operated as a service station (Mr. Bar-B-Que) and is currently operated as a restaurant (Ms. Bar-B-Que). The northeast adjoining property reportedly never removed or closed USTs at the site. The east adjoining property is a fire department station. South adjoining properties are developed with the City?s community center and the Madison County Health Department. Both south adjoining properties were historically developed with the City?s community center and with a bath house and pool, respectively.
