Additional Property Attributes

The City of Muscatine took title to this vacant business location in 2016 without conducting AAI prior to acquisition. The 128(a) program assisted with an ACM inspection only, but as proper AAI wasn't completed, the City was not eligible for ACM abatement clean up assistance, so the City funded the ACM abatement on their own, and has now demolished the building and made the site shovel ready for potential commercial redevelopment.

Former Use: the site had been a lumber yard and home improvement retail store for more than 75 years. The site had sat closed for a number of years on the major highway and commercial corridor of Hershey Ave/Hwy 92 in Muscatine. Many dilapidated buildings remained on the site, and this detracted from the community character and interest in redevelopment within the area.
