Additional Property Attributes

The City sought to take title the former concrete products manufacturing facility, demolish the building, and redevelop the site partially for retirement housing, and also for expansion of the neighboring public park and golf course. The closed industry is an eyesore that is next to the public park and recreational trail, and concerns about potential contaminants in soil/groundwater, as well as asbestos that may be present in the significantly sized industrial buildings, is of concern to the city.

Former Use: The site was developed as a concrete tile and pipe plant as far back as the 1890s, and operated until approximately 2005 for such production. The site has been used for product and vehicle storage, but is underutilized and mostly vacant, detracting from the community's other investments in the neighboring park and recreational trail, as well as nearby residences. The City seeks to acquire the property, remove the buildings, and redevelop the site for residential and public recreational space.
