Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Site has twelve former oil and gas wells on the property under the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) jurisdiction. RRC records show the wells have not been in production since the 1950s. In 1937, the City of Houston purchased the property and operated the Holmes Road Landfill and Holmes Road Incinerator in the 1960s and 1970s. The landfill was capped in the 1970s with soil. The incinerator portion of the Site had two underground storage tanks (USTs) that were installed in 1965 and removed in 1993. Contamination from the landfill, incinerator, and USTs are not under the jurisdiction of the RRC.
