Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property includes undeveloped former residential lots and a commercial structure used for conferences. The subject property includes one structure located near the northeastern corner of the site. The structure was historically used for the training of International Paper staff and has been used as a conference center for the city of Bastrop for approximately one year. The subject property has been developed since at least 1927 with residences and a boarding house indicated on the site by fire insurance maps from 1927 until 1958. City directory listings from 1962 and 1967 list residences on the property, along with commercial businesses Johnson Delphia Beauty Shop/ Lela Mae?s Beauty Shop, Kraftman Federal Credit Union savings and loans, Lorene?s Rooms and Caf�and Freeland?s Insurance. Site maps from the International Paper Mill on the adjoining property to the north dating back to 1979 indicate that the NW portion of the subject property was owned by the mill and used for parking and as an office building, while the eastern portion of the subject property was used as a parking lot from approximately 1990 until the construction of the International Paper training office in approx. 1997. A City directory from 1992 includes Quality TV service and a residence on the subject property. Aerial photographs from 1982 through 2013 show structures near the northeast, southwest, and northwest corners of the site. The structures near the northwest corner of the site and southwest corner of the site were removed in 2014. The property is currently developed with a single commercial structure near the northeastern corner, paved parking area near the southeastern corner, paved foundation from a historical residence near the southwestern corner, and paved area along the northwestern portion of the site.
