Additional Property Attributes

An ASTM/Ohio VAP Phase 1 was performed in advance of the village taking ownership of the property. 2 REC/IA's were identified: 1-former pottery operations (VOC, PAH, TPH, metals and asbestos in debris piles), 2-Offsite concern from auto sales and service (VOC, PAH, TPH, Metals); Limited Phase 2 sampling of soil and groundwater indicate the property is impacted from previous pottery operations but did not indicate an impact from off-site sources; COC's from all categories analyzed were detected in soil however only lead and mercury exceeded state voluntary cleanup direct contact standards for commercial use; ground water results exceeded unrestricted potable use standards in one well for arsenic and cobalt; The village is seeking cleanup funding to address the onsite concerns and make way for future development

Former Use: The property was first developed for industrial use as early as 1895 and used as recently as 2002; the property ownership and facility footprint changed over time with the most recent pottery facility producing and selling for over 60 years; owners focused on pottery uses included Roseville Ceramics (approximately 1996 to 2002- possibly retail), Murdoch Gardens Ohio LLC (2005 to 2013), Murdoch Gardens Inc. (1982 to 2005), Sycamore Novelty Co. (1946) and Cookson Pottery (1945 to 1982); in more years private individuals owned the property until the village took ownership in August 2018;
