Property Highlights

The property building has been utilized by multiple commercial businesses since the late 1800s. The building is in poor condition with partially collapsed roofs and floors. The City of Petersburg was awarded a clearance grant through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) program to partially demolish the structure and cleanup lead-based paint and asbestos containing materials. Due to the historical significance of the building and the Main Street area in Petersburg, the redevelopment plan is expected to retain the front facade of the building.

Former Use: The property has been utilized for commercial land use since the late 1800s. The City of Petersburg acquired ownership of the property in 2018. Multiple private owners have utilized the property for more than 100 years. The property building had become deteriorated over the past several years with partially collapsed roofs, walls, and ceilings. The building was razed from October to December 2019 due to its poor condition.
