Additional Property Attributes

Southern portion of the Deedgrabber Site
The Property consists of one tax parcel (Grays Harbor County Parcel No. 018602101501) comprising 0.1-acre of vacant land adjacent to Fry Creek. The Property is zoned as General Commercial per the City of Aberdeen Zoning Map. The Site is owned by Grays Harbor County since 2012 when it was acquired through tax foreclosure. Historically, the Property appears to have been undeveloped land. The Property is in a mixed commercial and residential use neighborhood. Former Use: The Site is owned by Grays Harbor County since 2012 when it was acquired through tax foreclosure. Historically, the Property appears to have been undeveloped land. The Property is in a mixed commercial and residential use neighborhood. 2707 Simpson Avenue located adjacent-north of the Property, operated as a gasoline service station since at least 1928 to 1948, according to available historical Sanborn maps. In 1948, operations expanded to include ?slot machine repair and storage? and the site building was expanded eastward where Fry Creek had been located and used as an auto repair shop. Historical use of this adjacent property as a gasoline service station, slot machine repair facility, and auto repair facility is a REC for the Property. 2616 Simpson Avenue located within a shopping plaza across Simpson Avenue, to the north-northeast of the Property, operated as a dry cleaners/laundry from the 1960s to the 1990s. Per historical Sanborn maps, the shopping plaza was constructed at the former of a branch of Fry Creek, upstream of the Site. It is assumed that Fry Creek was channelized and partially filled-in to construct the shopping plaza. However, due to its proximity to the facility, it is likely Fry Creek could have acted as a preferential pathway for contaminants in soil or groundwater. Given the upgradient of the former dry cleaners, the facility is a REC for the Property.
