Additional Property Attributes

Silver Creek has occupied a part of the western portion of the Property since at least 1939. Wooded land and agricultural land were located to the east of the creek until circa 1949. The Property was developed as a mobile home park from circa 1955 to 1998. The Property was then utilized for automobile salvage. Surrounding areas consisted primarily of wooded, agricultural and residential land until 1971 when a gravel pit was located on the eastern adjoining site. An auto salvage operation was located north of the Property in the location of a former mobile home park circa 1980. The northern adjoining site was utilized for auto salvage at the time of the site reconnaissance. The Property is situated in a relatively flat area in the southwestern portion of Clarksville. The area was historically utilized for sand and gravel mining and reuse has consisted of auto salvage operations, landfilling and wooded land. Scattered residential development is located in the area. Silver Creek is located on the western portion of the Property and flows from north to south to the Ohio River. The Property is an active auto salvage operation. Stored vehicles and parts were located throughout the eastern portion of the Property. The western portion of the Property slopes steeply towards Silver Creek. Dumping was noted on the slope to the creek. Sheens were noted on standing water along the creek bank. A residence, garage, shed and several lean-tos were noted at the Property. According to the Property owner, the shed houses an out of service drinking water well. A septic system was also located south of the residence.

Former Use: Wheelers Auto Parts is located on the northern adjoining site and is a junkyard. The site is listed with a spill of used oil from 2005. The spill affected the ground surface; however, the water supply was not listed as affected. Information regarding cleanup was not provided. The presence of a junkyard on the northern adjoining site along with the potential for unreported releases to have migrated onto the Property represents a REC. Graveyard Auto, located north of the Property beyond Wheelers Auto Parts, is listed in the Superfund Enterprise Management System (SEMs) database. The site is listed as a removal only site - no assessment work needed. Based on the current regulatory status and upgradient location, the potential for migration from the site onto the Property is a REC.
