Additional Property Attributes

Property was demolished in coordination with final TENORM and asbestos remediation. Building site was cleared and is ready for re-development. Note: this was a service station with above and below ground petroleum storage tanks, no assessment has been conducted on potential petroleum contamination. Former Use: Building was originally built as a service station and bulk fuel operation prior to 1947 and the service station was in operation through 1986. The bulk fuel portion of the property was in operation through 2009. The building has been vacant since then. In February 2014, the property was the site of illegal dumping of low level radioactive disposal well filter socks. A assessment was conducted for Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (TENORM) and the majority of the filter socks and contaminated materials were removed from the site in April 2014. Divide County took possession of the property in 2016 due to deinquent back taxes. Additional TENORM (technologically enhanced naturally occurring radioactive material) cleanup work was performed in May 2019. During this work, additional TENORM filter socks and affected soil were found beneath the building foundation. This was not accessible at the time due to foundation condition and must be re-mediated in tandem with building demolition along with the asbestos that was found in the below floor heating ducts.
