Property Highlights

City of Pembina applied for assessment and cleanup assistance on 11/7/2018. Assessment was completed and abatement had to wait until funding was available for abatement. Abatement contract was signed on 1/26/2022 with work to be completed by 7/31/2022. City of Pembina sold the property to a private owner 2/14/2022 without notifying the ND State Brownfields Program. Abatement contractor began work the week of June 27, 2022 and worked for about two days and removed about 50% of the asbestos. On 6/30,2022, the abatement contractor arrived to continue the work and the house was demolished by a contractor hired by the property owner. Demolition contractor issued with asbestos violations relating to the site.

Former Use: The building was constructed as a residential home that was ceded to the city for failure to pay back taxes.
