Former Use: The Site is a vacant lot located at 5975 S. Western Ave.the Site was developed prior to 1923 when a permit was granted for interior alteration of an existing 66-foot by 240-foot warehouse to E.L. Bruce Co. Inc. An aerial photograph from 1928 shows a large rectangular building on the southern portion of the Site. Two additional structures were added on the western portion of the Site during the 1930s and 1940s. By 1968, the Site was developed with two structures which were historically used for glass manufacturing, and more recently as a recycling center. The eastern portion of the property was developed with a miniature golf course from 1930 to 1990. In June 2005, an order to comply was issued to the owner, Southwestern Properties, LLC, for violations related to the maintenance and repair of existing buildings, including a description of a �commercial building with approximately 85 percent fire damage.� In February 2007, two permits for the demolition of the 43,200-square-foot metal warehouse and 406-square-foot bathroom building were issued to the owner, the City.
