Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property includes six vacant lots with no surface structures. The majority of the site is covered by thick, mature vegetation. The southern border of the site is maintained with active mowing to keep the brush down. According to historical records reviewed the site was first developed prior to 1935 with residences along the north side of Highway 165 (West Madison Street). The historical city directories lists the subject property as including 1406, 1408, 1410, 1412, and 1414 West Madison Avenue. The western portion of the subject property was first developed with an automotive repair facility between 1949 and 1962, identified as Square Deal Auto Repair in 1962, Steve?s Auto Repair in 1967, and Pugh?s Garage prior to its removal between 1985 and 1994. The southern portion of the site included residences from at least 1935 to 2012. The subject property has remained vacant since 2013. A Phase II ESA was conducted on October 9 and 10, 2019. Lead concentrations in soil exceeded the LDEQ RECAP standards.
