Additional Property Attributes

The City is working to create a marina district with the subject property as the initial component. The property will include a boating facility. The project is expected to include several commercial or residential buildings, parking areas, river docking areas and amenities to create new and unique downtown life opportunities and improved river access for downtown Waterloo.

Former Use: Available documents depict the property as the following: part of Cedar River in 1938; surface parking lot with the remainder being undeveloped and part of Cedar River from 1941-1970; River Road from 1979-2009; and former River Road from 2009-present. A historical aerial photograph dated 1941 depicts fill from an unknown origin being brought to create the southern portion of the subject property?s surface area while the rest remains part of the Cedar River. Fill had created nearly the entire current surface area of the subject property, less the far northern portion, in a 1952 aerial photograph.
