Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: This parcel is occupied by a two-story building estimated to have been built in 1895, according to Prowers County tax assessment documents. However, according to a Cultural Resource Survey, the building was estimated to have been built in 1894, and fire insurance maps depict a one-story shed on the property in 1893, prior to the current building. According to fire insurance maps and assessor records, the parcel was a dry good/clothing store in 1900. It became a printing shop in 1906 until 1919, when a telegraph office and stationary shop occupied the building and in 1925 an attorney located his office on the second floor. The Main Cafestaurant then operated on the site from circa 1938 through 1990. According to a city directory dated from 1963 - 2014, Main Cafs listed from the years 1963-2000, and nothing is listed under that address from 2000- 2014. A sports bar and grill most recently occupied the first floor, but the building is currently vacant. A warranty deed from 2013 shows a transfer of title from Linda L. Hawkins to the current owner, GS&SS Properties, LLC. PAHs found in groundwater from upgradient source, building needs ACM abatement and has lead based paint.
