Additional Property Attributes

The Property was developed with a 5-story hotel in 1924 by the Morck family with a building addition to the first two floors at the northwest corner of the building in approximately 1927. The Morck Hotel operated until the 1960s, when it changed ownership in 1961 and then again in 1968, and the hotel was converted into apartments. By the early 1980s, the building was a low-income apartment complex called the Morck Apartments and renamed as the Washington Apartments in 2004. The current owner purchased the Property in 2006 (sale closed in 2010), and the building has been vacant since that time. In 2013, the Property was added to the Aberdeen Historic Registry and the National Register of Historic Places. The registration form for the National Register of Historic Places describes the exterior of the building as having a high level of integrity but the interior of the building as significantly deteriorated due to exposure to the elements, neglect, and vandalism, and that the walls on floors two through five have been completely removed.

Former Use: The Hotel Morck (the Property) consists of one approximately 0.45-acre parcel of land (Grays Harbor parcel no. 029303001000) with an approximately 66,728 square-foot (ft2) 5-story building and approximately 4,000-ft2 fenced parking lot. The owner of the Property is Morck Place LLC of 3611 N Washington Street, Tacoma, Washington. The Property was developed with a 5-story hotel in 1924 by the Morck family with a building addition to the first two floors at the northwest corner of the building in approximately 1927.
