Additional Property Attributes

The property once housed the Former Hoosier Desk facility that specialized in desk furniture manufacturing from 1968 to 2013. However, past industrial uses stem back to the late 1800s on the property. Past businesses include J. Gramelspacher & Company Planing Mill, the Jasper Manufacturing Company Veneer & Shingle Mill, Hoosier Desk Company (1968-1978), Servants, Inc. (1984-2013), and Obermeyer Yahama (2013). The current owner of the property is Jasper Public Library, who acquired the property from Sternberg Brothers Rentals, LLC and BBAW Rentals, LLC. The facility was demolished in July 2018 to make way for the new Thyen-Clark Cultural Center, which includes a 13.2 million dollar investment. Key partners include the Jasper Public Library Board, the Jasper Community Arts Commission, the City of Jasper, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, and the local community through significant donations. The cultural center is expected to be open in Fall 2020.
