Additional Property Attributes

At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property consisted of approximately 0.4-acres of land developed with an approximately 17,500 square-foot, two-story building with a basement. An asphalt-paved parking lot was located along the eastern portion of the Property and an asphalt-paved alley was located along the southeast Property boundary. The remainder of the Property was developed with landscaped areas. Commercial developments were located to the northeast and northwest and residential developments were located to the southeast and southwest. The Property is serviced by Duke Energy for electrical service, Vectren for natural gas and the City of Huntington Utilities for water and municipal sanitary services. Storm water in the area infiltrates into the ground surface or flows overland to adjoining roadways.

Former Use: At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property consisted of approximately 0.4-acres of land developed with an approximately 17,500 square-foot, two-story building with a basement. An asphalt-paved parking lot was located along the eastern portion of the Property and an asphalt-paved alley was located along the southeast Property boundary. The remainder of the Property was developed with landscaped areas. Commercial developments were located to the northeast and northwest and residential developments were located to the southeast and southwest. The Property was developed for residential uses from at least 1896 to 1919. From 1924 to 1985, the Property was developed with a Church of the Nazarene and a single-family dwelling. From 1991 to 2018, the Property was listed as South Side Furniture. Circa 1992, the dwelling had been razed and replaced with a parking lot. Surrounding areas consisted primarily of commercial developments to the northeast (crossgradient) and northwest (downgradient). Residential developments were located to the southeast and southwest. In 1929, a filling station with three gasoline tanks was located to the northeast. In 1949, the filling station building had been razed and replaced with a different filling station that also included a �greasing� area. The automotive filling and service station was listed as Bucks Standard Service and Standard Oil Co. until at least 1964, when it was listed as the First Church of the Nazarene Annex.
