Additional Property Attributes

The Cuyahoga Land Reutilization Corporation (CCLRC) acquired this former auto repair shop through involuntary tax foreclosure in 2018 and transferred it to the local CDC, Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc. (BBC). BBC plans to include the land in its Urban Agriculture Innovation Zone. BBC is now requesting assistance in performing environmental assessments to determine the extent of petroleum contamination. Phase I indicated one area of REC as the building was an auto service garage for two decades and included an oil water separator beneath the building. A subsequent liquid sampling and analysis found no contaminated areas. CCLRC will demolish the building.

Former Use: The property lies on E. 83rd Street just north of Kinsman Rd.in the City of Cleveland. The location is within an Urban Agriculture Innovation Zone, and this is one of the few remaining structures still standing. As far as we can tell, this property functioned as an automobile repair facility and warehouse since it was built in approximately 1950. It could potentially contain lifts and tanks, either surface or underground.Property has been through the hands of several owners. Records that began in 1975 show several persons owning the property. We are not able to trace any of these owners who appear to be private individuals rather than corporate entities.
