Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Site is located in an area of North Tunbridge that has been developed for residential and commercial uses since at least the 1830s. The Site was originally two separate and adjacent parcels that were combined in 1995. The first of these parcels was residential and was located to the north of the General Store building. Residential buildings on this portion of the Site developed prior to 1893 were destroyed by a fire in 1955. The second parcel included the current location of the North Tunbridge General Store. This portion of the Site was developed with a store and a barn circa 1830, and the original buildings were destroyed by fire in 1932. The current building was constructed in 1932. Results of a title record search identified references to gasoline, oil, and kerosene pumps as early as 1943. The intended reuse of this property by the prospective purchaser is to reopen and eventually expand the general store. A Phase I and Phase II were completed. The Phase II results indicated that no cleanup is necessary. An updated Phase I was prepared and a Certificate of Completion was issued. The site has been redeveloped and is now operating as a general store once again, under new ownership.
