Additional Property Attributes

At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property consisted of approximately 113 acres of primarily wooded land. Four buildings were present on the northwest portion of the Property. The buildings were identified as building 3, building 7, building 9, and a cottage. Building 3 was approximately 8,700 square feet in size, building 7 was approximately 18,000 square feet, building 9 was approximately 15,000 square feet, and the cottage was approximately 560 square feet. The remainder of the Property was wooded land with unpaved roads on the northwest portion of the Property. The area north of the Property consisted of a municipal park, residences, and the Tuscola Area Airport. The Property was bounded to the east and southeast by the Cass River. Beyond the river was primarily wooded land with areas of residential land. West of the Property was the Caro Center State Psychiatric Hospital (the Caro Center). Based on our review of historical information, by 1937 the northwest portion of the Property was developed with three buildings, access drives, and agricultural land. The remainder of the Property was undeveloped wooded land. By 1949, grass-covered land was present in the area of the agricultural land. The layout of the Property has not changed between 1949 and the present. Surrounding areas consisted primarily of agricultural land, wooded land, commercial and residential developments.
