Additional Property Attributes

The site is developed with one single-story, 11,250 sq ft commercial building that includes two small attached garages, and one large multi-bay attached garage. The site also has one detached garage, one small shed, and one large salt shed. The site is zoned industrial and was used as the Montague Department of Public Works headquarters. The earliest identified use was in 1914, when there was a silk mill located on a portion of the site. That mill building was demolished by 1940, and by 1952 a new building constructed on the site. According to town records, the current building was constructed in 1959 and the Town of Montague purchased the property in 1963. As the Town constructed a new DPW facility in 2020, the Town ceased using this property. The Town is conducting a Phase II assessment and intends on issuing a Request For Proposals to sell the property for redevelopment.
