The city of Shreveport purchased the three former Sun Furniture Properties located at the corner of Texas and Murphy. These properties will be renovated using Federal and Public-Private Partnership funding to create the SporTran Multimodal Resource Center and Light Duty maintenance facility including a transit food court, a transit mall, the Regional Transit Technology and Coordination Planning Center, Transit Operational and Safety Training Facility, and Wellness Fitness Center. Cleanup involves the abatement of lead and asbestos in the building to prepare it for redevelopment. The cleanup is now complete and redevelopment is underway.
