Additional Property Attributes

Circa 1900, a railroad, running north and south, crossed the center of the Property until 1915, when the Property was depicted as undeveloped. From 1938 to the mid-1950s, the Property was developed with office buildings associated with the southern-adjoining rail yard. In 1958, the Property was depicted as an undeveloped, grass-covered parcel until the early 1980s when the surface of the Property was indicative of bare or disturbed soil and unknown items were stored on the southern portion. From 2005 to the time of the site reconnaissance, the northern portion of the Property was covered with dense vegetation and southern portion of the Property was grass-covered. Piles of fill materials which appeared to contain fragments of asphalt, concrete, bricks and coal slag mixed with gravel and soil were observed on the northern portion. The southern portion of the Property was primarily grass-covered with a gravel-covered parking area to the southeast. A pile of used railroad ties was observed along the west Property boundary. Circa 1900, surrounding areas to the north and west were primarily undeveloped or agricultural land. Areas to the east and south were depicted as densely developed urban land. By 1915, railroad tracks bordered the Property to the east and west and converged north of the Property. An industrial development was located further east, a roundhouse, rail yards and other outbuildings were located to the south, and undeveloped land was located to the west. In 2005, additional commercial developments began further west. At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property was bordered to the east and west by railroad tracks that converged north of the Property. West 145th Street bordered the Property to the south. A former industrial site was located to east, and a bulk transfer facility was located to the south. Undeveloped land was located to the west with commercial developments located further west.
