Additional Property Attributes

The property was previously occupied by a coal yard between 1895 and 1910, a train platform between 1895 and 1975, and residences since at least 1895 through the mid 1960s. The City of Philadelphia purchased the property in 1942 and it has been operated as a park since that time. The property includes playground equipment, a basketball court, vegetated and paved open space, a sprayground, and a recreation building. The cause of the potential contamination is unknown; however, the property subsurface likely contains historic fill and nearby rail, manufacturing/industrial, automotive, and dry cleaning uses may have affected the property subsurface. The planned use for the property is continued use as a public park and recreation facility.
