Climate Adaption and Mitigation - Planning or Assessment

Selected Strategy(ies)Explanatory Text
Evaluate Reuse options that consider impacts from extreme weather events and natural disastersDiscussion of observed and forecasted natural hazard conditions and the associated site-specific risk are part of any reuse considerations. Both current and forecasted extreme weather events and natural disasters may impact the effectiveness of a remedial alternative.

Additional Property Attributes

Property is partially developed with two commercial buildings used as a community center and a Head Start early learning center. The remainder of the property is undeveloped woodland. Property previously belonged to Weyerhaeuser (Timber and land products), rumors and there appear to be cleared areas extending just south and onto the site as far back as 1961 and 1955. It appears to have been used as a solid waste dump in the past. Future uses include a wellness center for Choctaw people in the Wright City area and potential phytoremediation area, if applicable.

Phase II ESA and additional delineation sampling complete. Metals such as arsenic could be background levels, further investigation into these levels is ongoing. Currently, all chromium levels have been determined to be CrIII, no Cr VI. Site Characterization is on going. Phase II and additional delineation was insufficient to conclude the extent of contamination, if any. Data gap analysis showed additional sampling is needed to properly characterize the site.

A Phase II ESA was completed to address all data gaps identified by the data gap analysis, previously discussed. No cleanup was determined to be required but a Risk Assessment Exposure Analysis was warranted and is underway.
