Additional Property Attributes

Standard and other historical sources were able to document that the subject property was developed with multiple commercial and residential (dwelling and apartments) buildings from at least 1938 through approximately 1980. The buildings were demolished between 1980 and 1999. The property has been vacant land from that time through the current day. No listings for the current or historical addresses of the subject property were identified in a search of historical City Directories. Historical Sanborn maps document the former buildings operated as stores, apartments, and residential dwellings. However, one of the buildings on the northeast portion of the subject property (potential historical address of 511 and 606 Belle Glade Road) was identified as a dry cleaners on the 1943 Sanborn Map. The same building was later identified as a store on the 1954 Sanborn Map. Although the duration of time the drycleaners was located on the subject property is unknown, the presence of the dry cleaners and dry cleaning operations commonly involve the usage of hazardous substances and/or petroleum products, which, if improperly managed and/or disposed of, can be a source of contamination. The historical waste management practices associated with the former dry cleaning operations are unknown and may be a source of subsurface contamination, which represents a REC.
