Additional Property Attributes

Standard and other historical sources documents that the property consisted of vacant land transected by a railroad in at least 1949. The property remained consistent until between 1958 and 1962, when the railroad tracks were demolished, and a commercial structure was constructed in the southeastern portion. According to the current property owner, the first floor of the commercial building was utilized as a former bowling alley and the second floor consisted of office space for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). According to online resources discussing the former bowling alley sign (River Oaks), the sign was removed from the building in the 1990's which is likely when it was converted to office space. During review of aerial photographs of the subject property, PM observed shaded areas in the southwestern portion indicative of former structures present between 1992 and 1997. It is likely the shaded areas were associated with the River Oaks sign being demolished. The building was demolished between 2014 and 2017, and the property has remained vacant since this time. No tenants of environmental concern have been identified.
