Additional Property Attributes

From 1914 to 1929, the Property was primarily undeveloped; however, the eastern portion was developed as a race track. In 1940, the northwestern corner of the Property was depicted with an unknown building that was later razed in the late 1940s. From the late 1950s to 2018, the northwestern corner of the Property was developed with another building utilized for a variety of commercial uses, including a market, a filling station, and a construction company. Additionally, the southern and eastern portions of the Property were grass-covered or wooded land. From 1908 to the early 1940's, surrounding areas were depicted primarily as dwellings to the north and a greenhouse or dwellings to the west. A racetrack bordered the Property to the east and south. In the 1950's, dwellings were located to the northeast, the eastern and southern-adjoining racetrack appeared covered with vegetation, additional dwellings were located to the west, and a commercial building was located to the northwest. From 1976 to 2018, dwellings adjoined the Property to the north, south and west. Wooded land was located to the east, and the commercial building to the north appeared indicative of a scrap metal yard.
At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property consisted of approximately 0.4 acres of land developed with three adjoining buildings; an approximately 960 square-foot commercial garage, an approximately 900 square-foot former dwelling, and an approximately 60 square-foot shed. An asphalt-paved parking area with a former pump-island was located to the west of the adjoining buildings. The remaining portions of the Property were grass-covered or wooded land. Numerous piles of fill material consisting of soil and gravel mixed with asphalt, concrete, building materials, car parts and other miscellaneous debris were observed along the wooded, eastern Property boundary. The interior portions of the building consisted of a two-bay garage, a bathroom, and several other vacant rooms. Residential developments were located to the north, south and west. Undeveloped, wooded land was located to the east and a commercial development indicative of a scrap metal yard was located to the northwest. Brown Street and North 31st Street bordered the Property to the north and west, respectively.
