Additional Property Attributes

In 1914, the eastern portion of the Property was depicted with a commercial structure. The specific usage of the building was unknown. From 1924 to the early 1960s, the western portion of the Property was developed as a filling and service station and the eastern portion of the Property was developed as a grocery store, a warehouse and a restaurant. From 1965 to 2000, the Property was developed as a restaurant and in mid-2010s, the building was razed. From 1908 to 2018, surrounding areas consisted of densely developed, mixed-use urban land. A railroad track was located to the east and industrial developments were located further east. The industrial developments consisted of a piano factory and scrap yard. Several rail spurs, a boiler house, coal storage areas, an oil house, varnishing and finishing areas, a machine shop were former located to the west. In 1947, a coal yard adjoined the Property to the south.
At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property consisted of an approximately 0.2 acre, grass-covered parcel. An asphalt-paved parking area was located near the northwest corner of the Property and concrete-paved sidewalks were located along the northern and western Property boundaries. A vacant commercial development was located to the north, a scrap metal yard was located to the east beyond a railroad track, a grass-covered parcel was located to the south, and residential and vacant commercial developments were located to the west. Dark-colored staining was noted on the railroad track. I Avenue and South 14th Street bordered the Property to the north and west, respectively. Unnamed alleys bordered the Property to the east and south.
