Additional Property Attributes

Reasonably ascertainable records for the subject property extended back to approximately 1889. Data failure occurred prior to that date, from 1928 to 1949, and from 1949 to 1958. However, PM did not identify any significant data gaps during the completion of this Phase I ESA.

Standard and other historical sources were able to document that a retail building was present in the southwest corner in at least 1889. The building was occupied by a grocery store from at least 1889 to 1894, and was converted into a residential dwelling between 1894 and 1903. Between 1903 and 1908, an addition was constructed to the eastern face of the building and an outbuilding was constructed east of the building. Both buildings were demolished between 1928 and 1949, and the property consisted of vacant grassy land. The southern and central portions of an industrial building were constructed on the property between 1949 and 1958, with an addition constructed to the northern face between 1958 and 1962. The building was occupied by Union Aluminum, a manufacture of aluminum window and door frames, in the 1950s and the early 1960s. According to Ms. Jane Darby Dill, the owner representative, the building was either vacant or utilized as warehouse space in the 1970s and was then occupied by an aluminum extrusion company (Southern Metal Company) between the 1980s and 2014. The majority of the building was demolished between 2014 and 2015 with the remainder of the building being demolished by 2019. The property has consisted of the former building foundation since at least 2019.

Additionally, a transformer yard was present on the western portion of the property from at least 1962 until between 2014 and 2020. PM did not observe any transformers during the completion of the site reconnaissance in November 2020.
