Additional Property Attributes

The former Rockford Products Company once employed over 650 individuals for the manufacturing of screw hardware. The facility was purchased by a local real estate development company in an effort to keep the business operating for years to come. However, the business eventually closed in 2016 leaving the property owner with an empty facility. Several layers of environmental assessment work had been completed dating back to the early 1990s that was summarized in a pre-Phase I ESA Environmental Review by the City of Rockford to help understand the nature of impact and the ability for the facility to function again. The review allowed the City to move forward with establishing a TIF District in the area to help with redevelopment in the Harrison/Kishwaukee Street corridor. Although the site has not been cleaned up at this time, the owner has invested in the buildings to attract new tenants, which are currently undergoing renovation.
