Additional Property Attributes

The 1.08 acres former Almart Grocery store is a key property acquisition for the forthcoming second phase of the W. State Street corridor improvement project. The City will be expanding the right-of-way and including a more convenient pedestrian pathway that will span the entire project. This particular property once operated as a grocery store followed by several small convenience stores that contributed to blight and negative social environmental issues for this area of town. The City will be demolishing the blighted structure and utilizing the property for greenspace in the interim until commercial development once again catalyzes in the corridor. RECs identified in the Phase I include a former greenhouse and garbage incinerator that once operated on the property along with several offsite filling stations and a potential drycleaner that once operated on properties in close proximity.
