Addl Cleanup/Treatment info: The ELG Metals Site, located at the intersection of Crestview Drive and 2nd Street, in Pymatuning Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, is an underground storage tank (UST) brownfield site. The Site is located at 825 Crestview Drive Extension, Greenville, Pennsylvania, Pymatuning Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. The site is a 7.22-acre parcel that will be utilized for industrial use in the future. The site is owned by Greenville Reynolds Development Corporation (GRDC) and is located with the Greenville Reynolds Industrial Park which was formerly utilized as an army war camp in the 1940' s. During storm sewer work at the Site, an unregistered kerosene UST was discovered and accidentally punctured in May 2019. The UST was subsequently registered and entered into the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's (PADEP's) Storage Tank Program. The EPA funds were allocated to complete the assessment activities in soil and groundwater and develop remedial plans related to the UST as a corrective action approved by the PA DEP. Assessment of Site environmental quality conditions were achieved through the advancement of soil borings, the installation of groundwater monitoring wells and soil vapor monitoring points, and the collection of soil, groundwater, and soil vapor samples. Upon receipt and analysis of the assessment environmental quality sample results, a combined Site Characterization Report/Remedial Action Plan (SCR/RAP) and Risk Assessment (RA) was submitted to the PADEP in October of 2022. The SCR/RAP demonstrates attainment of the Statewide health Standard for Site soils (except benzene which demonstrated attainment of the Site-Specific Standard) and groundwater. The SCR/RAP and RA was submitted to the PA DEP and the U.S. EPA for review in October, 2022, and approved by the PADEP on December 29, 2022.
