Additional Property Attributes

The Property consisted of commercial and residential development with associated outbuildings from at least 1924 to 1949, when the residential development was no longer present. The commercial structure near the southeast corner of the Property was occupied by a pharmacy and/or dentist until 1955, when the structure was no longer present. A gasoline filling station with a storage shed was present near the center of the Property from 1955 to 1972, and five 3,000-gallon underground storage tanks (USTs) that contained gasoline and diesel fuel were removed from the Property in June 1986. The Property was occupied by a restaurant from 1987 to the time of the site reconnaissance, and the remainder of the Property consisted of paved parking lot and grass-covered land. During the site reconnaissance, a potential fill port and vent pipes associated with a UST were observed adjacent to the storage shed.
Between 1886 and 1892, a pork processing operation was located east of the Property. By 1914, the surrounding areas consisted primarily of residential development with a fire station to the east and a church to the south. The Property was bordered by South 18th Street, Grand Avenue, and an alley to the east, south, and north, respectively. From 1930 to 1949, a gasoline filling station was located approximately 150 feet southeast of the Property. Between 1952 and the time of the site reconnaissance, the surrounding area consisted of residential development to the west, north, and east, a church to the south, and a bulk petroleum storage facility was located approximately 190 feet east of the Property.
