Addl Cleanup/Treatment info: Information as of 2018: The Subject Site has undergone environmental clean-up activities since approximately 1987 and have been under the oversight of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) State Site Clean-up Section (SCS). Historical documents on the IDEM Virtual File Cabinet (VFC) list the contaminants of concern as TCE and its degradation products cis-dichloroethene (cis-DCE) and vinyl chloride (VC), as well as petroleum hydrocarbons, metals and cyanide. The documents identified 12 (former) source areas (3 hydrocarbon, 4 VOCs and 5 VOC/ hydrocarbons). Historically, the Subject Site underwent multiple remediation stages including the excavation and removal of impacted soils, the chemical treatment of impacted soils and the installation and operation of an on-site remediation system. Reports on the VFC indicate a 92% reduction in VOCs in the groundwater and a 95% reduction in VOCs in the soil. The final stage (on-site remediation system) has been shut down and will eventually be properly decommissioned and removed, along with all associated waste drums (responsibility of Burns Environmental).

Additional Property Attributes

The Subject Site operated as a manufacturing facility specializing in abrasive blasting, plating, and painting of metals from approximately 1967 through 2000. The main building on the Subject Site was 108,000 ft2 in size and was demolished in 2007.
VOCs including TCE and Vinyl Chloride have been found to have impacted subsurface soils and groundwater at the Subject Site. The site has been subject to Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) and State Cleanup Program (SCP) investigation and remediation activities, including the removal of soil source areas of Chlorinated Solvents
and soil injection for treatment of groundwater.
Quarterly groundwater monitoring was conducted between 2017 and 2019, and indoor air sampling was conducted in July of 2019 and again in February of 2020. A BFPP Comfort Letter was issued for the Subject Site by IDEM on June 22, 2021. The SCP has requested remaining issues be addressed.
