Additional Property Attributes

Fayette Street, an alley, and Hohman Avenue adjoined the Property to the north, east, and west, respectively. The surrounding area north consisted of a vacant commercial development and parking lot. A vacant commercial development adjoined the Property to the east, beyond the alley. Commercial offices adjoined the Property to the south. A park adjoined the Property to the west, beyond Hohman Avenue. This builidng is a anchor for the Hammond Downtown Redevelopment Plan. This redevelopment will add 100 new apartment units in an area within walking distance of the new Hammond Gateway commuter rail station being constructed to connect the existing South Shore Line from South Bend to Chicago with the new West Lake Corridor, a commuter rail from Dyer and Munster to the south. Redevelopment investment cost for this building has risen from $24,000,000to $28,000,000 due to inflation and supply chain issues.
