Additional Property Attributes

The site is approximately 0.36 acre in area and consists of one parcel. From at least 1900 to 1916, the site was undeveloped and/or agricultural land. The site has been developed with one approximately 19,278 square-foot two-story commercial building with a basement since 1917. One residential building was located in the southwestern portion of the site from at least 1932 to 1934. An addition was added to the western portion of the commercial site building by 2000. Occupants of the commercial/industrial site building included: AC Klopping [sheet metal works] (1917-1946), McCloskey Torch Manufacturing (1935), Stonhard Co. [floor resurfacing compounds warehouse] (1951-1958), Dur-O-Wal Inc. [a masonry reinforcement manufacturer] (1963-1975), Norwood Industries (1977-2009), and MCB Associates Inc. (1990). The building has been vacant since at least 2009. The following wastes were among those removed from the site by the US EPA between 2008 and 2009: 23,700 gallons and 26,300 pounds of waste flammable liquids; 5,920 pounds of corrosive fluids; 3,600 pounds of liquid hazardous waste; 60 pounds of ammonia solutions; 55-pounds of flammable aerosols; 20 pounds of elemental mercury; 80 pounds of solid toxic waste (lead/mercury debris); 80 pounds of hydrofluoric acid; and 20 pounds of ethylene oxide. July 2021 - TTL observed numerous retail-sized containers of routine janitorial and maintenance supplies, over 100 one-gallon and 5-gallon buckets of paints and similar chemicals, approximately fourteen empty 55-gallon drums, nine 55-gallon drums of latex, two 5gallon buckets of fruit base, seven 55-gallon drums labelled "wax", nine 55-gallon drums labelled as airplane/automobile shampoo, four 55-gallon drums of glycerin, twelve 55gallon drums of chocolate oil, one 55-gallon drum of strawberry puree, one 55-gallon drum of roller wash, approximately fifteen retail-sized containers of various oils; approximately thirteen 55-gallon drums of unknown contents; approximately sixteen 5gallon buckets of unknown contents; and three propane canisters throughout the site building. In addition, TTL observed eight partially filled 5-gallon containers of methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) in the freight elevator car located in the south-central portion of the site. These chemicals were haphazardly stored and were mixed in with excessive bulk storage items and refuse throughout the site building. Based on the excessive storage of miscellaneous items within the site building not every container was observed and categorized. In addition, the observed materials were likely not stored in their original containers and many of the containers were leaking. Additional waste characterization of drums and material inside building completed in 2022.
