Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Fairmont State Airfield was a former US Army Air Corps Airbase circa 1942-1947 encompassing approxinmately 1890 acres sited on portions of six sections of land. The War Assets Administration assumed custody of and accountability for the subject site in August 1947. Later in 1947 the State of Nebraska Department of Aeronautics (Dept of Aeronautics) took possession of the subject property and has since operated a state airfield thereon. Over the ensuing years, several parcels of the former airbase were sold by the Dept of Aeronautics, generally for use as agricultural cropland.
