Additional Property Attributes

Property consists of vacant land located southwest of the intersection of Osprey Drive and Coppermine Road, Coconino County, Arizona (the Site). The Site is comprised of approximately 2.55 acres of land, and is identified by Coconino County Assessor's Parcel Number 801-06-030D. Based on the review of historical resources and information obtained through interviews, the Site was vacant land from at least 1955 until sometime between the 1950s or 1960s when the Site was utilized as a dog pound for the Bureau of Reclamation. Around 1975, the Site was transferred to the City of Page and the City utilized the Site as its local animal shelter. The animal shelter consisted of chain-linked kennels on a concrete pad with a single wooden building utilized as the shelter office and feline unit. In approximately 2010, a new animal shelter was constructed at a different location and in 2015 the Site structures were demolished by the City of Page Public Works. The on-Site septic tank that serviced the former Site building had been caved in and filled with soil during the demolition of the former Site building. Following the removal of the former Site structures, the Site remained unoccupied and vacant land to the time of the Site reconnaissance. Based on the findings of this ESA, no further investigation is recommended at this time. The presence of the on-Site septic system is not inherently an environmental concern. In the event of
future development of the Site, Ninyo & Moore recommends the septic system be decommissioned and removed following all applicable county regulations.
