Additional Property Attributes

The Site was first developed in 1920 as a silk mill. The Site building was two stories with a concrete brick exterior. Vinyl siding on one of the buildings is evidence of a later addition. The Site has most recently occupied by Glencoe Leather Corporation, a commercial glove manufacturing company. The remainder of the Site included a loading dock on the south side of the warehouse and a thin section of trees along the northern boundary of the Site. The building was demolished by the City of Gloversville in June 2021, due to wall and roof collapse on the western portion of the building which posed a threat to the adjoining residential property. Following the building demolition, an unregistered steel underground storage tank (UST) on Site property filled with rain, causing #2 fuel oil to migrate to the surface. Spill Number 2102367 was reported to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservations (NYSDEC) by the neighbor residing at 25 East 9th Avenue. The NYSDEC oversaw the UST removal and excavation of impacted soil.
