Additional Property Attributes

Available historical documentation indicates the subject property operated as a hospital from 1965 to about 1999. The hospital has been abandoned with no known use since that time. The first available historical documentation for the subject property is a 1938 aerial photograph that shows the subject property is vacant and cleared for apparent agricultural use. The Palm Beach county property appraiser indicates the hospital was built in 1965 that is confirmed in the 1969 aerial photograph. In 1995, a 10,000-gallon aboveground tank being used as an emergency generator was registered. The tank was then removed in April 2007 and a Discharge Report Form was submitted. Assessment activities were conducted from 2007 to 2008 and the site received a Site Rehabilitation Completion Order (SRCO) in September 2008. The 2007 release is identified as a REC. An interview with the Palm Beach County Health Department revealed no discharges of hazardous materials, but, confirmed that asbestos containing materials had been used on the construction of the hospital and that the asbestos containing materials may not have been removed from the property yet. Given the current SRCO status of the site and no obvious signs of petroleum products or hazardous substances used or stored on the property based on the historical review and the site reconnaissance, the past and current use of the property does not represent a REC except for the possibility that asbestos containing materials used in the hospitals construction still exists and that debris is now scattered across the subject property's interior.
