Additional Property Attributes

The property is located at 414 North Queen Street, Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina. The Subject Property is developed with a single-story, masonry-built structure that is currently occupied by Nathan Perry Realty, LLC. Land use at the Subject Property has been confirmed by historical sources back to 1885, when the Subject Property appears to be a vacant and undeveloped. The Subject Property appears to have been partially developed with a foundry and machine shop from 1896 through 1919, with a junkyard from 1919 through 1930, an auto repair facility from 1925 through 1930, and a gasoline filling station from 1925 through 1964. According to city directories, the site has been occupied by various beauty salons, insurance companies, and other innocuous businesses from 1978 through present day.

Two USTs were identified during GPR survey, both approximately 1,000-2,000 gallon capacity. The GPR Survey also identified a 3rd tank in the sidewalk/right-of-way for N Queen Street and a "no confidence anomaly" southeast of the on-site structure. The tanks were partially excavated during UST closure activities and found to have already been closed in-place, filled with foam. No previous evidence of tank closure/sampling activities had been filed with the local NCDEQ UST Section branch. Soil samples were collected from around the perimeter of the two tanks to assess if there had been a release. Laboratory sample results indicate presence of VOCs, SVOCs, EPH, and VPH exceeding local regulatory standards for soil-to-water and residential scenarios. Future use is unknown at this time.
