Additional Property Attributes

Area 1
Standard and other historical sources were able to document that two small buildings were constructed in the western portion prior to 1917 and were identified as vacant in 1917. By 1927 one of the buildings was occupied by a storefront tenant and the other was occupied by a pressing tenant. Between 1917 and 1927 a dwelling, two garages, and a portion of an outbuilding (the remainder located on a northeast adjoining property) were constructed in the northern portion. Between 1927 and 1944 the pressing building and two outbuildings were demolished, and the northern storefront building was converted for storage. Between 1944 and 1951 the storage building was demolished. PM was unable to document the use of the pressing tenant building from 1917 to 1927 and from 1927 to 1944. PM was also unable to document the use of the storefront building from 1917 to 1944 and from 1944 to 1951. Based on the time that has passed since the buildings were present (77 years and 66 years respectively), the limited size of the buildings and the redevelopment of the area, PM has not identified the former unknown uses of these buildings as a recognized environmental condition (REC).

Between 1927 and 1944 four commercial buildings were constructed. The northernmost commercial building was occupied by various office, carpenter, and plumbing tenants between at least 1944 and 1951 and has been occupied by a pool house tenant since 1960. The three southern commercial buildings were occupied by lumber storage, a dry kiln and boiler room, and a roofing warehouse in at least 1944. Two southern commercial buildings (lumber shed, and dry kiln/boiler room) were demolished and a building material warehouse, lumber shed, and a woodworking building were constructed on the northern portion between 1944 and 1951. The northern dwelling and remaining outbuilding were demolished between 1962 and 1971. Additions were constructed to the eastern and southern faces of the buildings at various times between 1944 and 1985. All of the remaining buildings were combined at an unknown time to form the hereafter named northern building consisting of three tenant spaces (pool house, cabinet shop and the Word Lumber Company tenant space). The pool house tenant space is still in use on occasion and the cabinet shop tenant space is used for storage and personal woodworking operations. The Word Lumber Company tenant space has been vacant since 2014.

Area 2
Standard and other historical sources were able to document that prior to 1917 a boarding house, a portion of a church (the remainder located on a southeast adjoining property), three garages and two outbuildings were constructed in the western portion; and a portion of a barn (later documented as a garage - the remainder located on a southeast adjoining property) was constructed in the eastern portion prior to 1917. Between 1917 and 1927 a southern garage was converted into a storefront. The church, boarding house, four outbuildings/garages and storefront were demolished between 1958 and 1962. PM was unable to document the use of the storefront building from 1927 and 1958. However, based on the limited size of the building and the time that has passed since the building was present (at least 63 years), PM has not identified the unknown former use as a REC. The eastern portion has consisted of a parking lot for the former Word Lumber Company buildings since that time.

Area 3
Standard and other historical sources were able to document that the property consisted of vacant land in 1917. Between 1917 and 1927 the property was developed for the Word Lumber Company, a building materials company. A commercial building was constructed which was divided into a building materials area, paint area, planer, lumber shed, and carpenter shop which was constructed on the southwest corner. A lime house and garage were constructed north of the commercial building, which were demolished between 1927 and 1944. Between 1927 and 1944
