Additional Property Attributes

In 1937, the subject property consisted of a road and undeveloped fields. By 1956, two buildings had been constructed along the southern border of the property. In 1961, Mark Twain Elementary School, a 47,982-square foot building, was constructed in the northern portion of the subject property. By 1983, the two small buildings along the southern border had been razed from the subject property. By 1994, a 2,100 square foot building, primarily used as a daycare, was constructed to the south of the elementary school. By 2009, the school was no longer being used. By 2018, both structures had been razed from the property. The subject property currently consists of a vacant field. The source of the backfill material used to level the property is unknown.

The results of a previous subsurface investigation conducted in 2015 identified soil contamination at the subject property. Levels of arsenic, chromium, mercury, and selenium were
identified in on-site soil samples exceeding the current EGLE Part 201 Generic Residential Cleanup Criteria (GRCC). Arsenic was identified above Direct Contact criteria.
