Additional Property Attributes

Former use: Unknown but most likely residential as the surrounding area was low income mixed use from the 20's - 90's. The structures were removed due to property standards prior to 2010. This property is located in Ledbetter Heights at the northern end of Downtown Shreveport. Until a few years ago, only a few houses and businesses remain in this area. Recently City of Shreveport Office of Community Development has been working through HUD Choice and Shreveport Housing to add much-needed affordable housing. Nearby, the multi-million dollar Choice Grand Bayou Apartments is completing 2 of 5 phases, with plans to start the 3rd phase early 2022. Cultural and economic amenities are supported by the adjacent Shreveport Common Creative Placemaking Initiative, and a Makerspace and Workforce Development project are in pre-development nearby.
Planned Reuse: The site is currently owned by Shreveport Landmark, a dissolved nonprofit, which is donating the sites to Shreveport Common, a nonprofit arts- and community-based redevelopment authority, to facilitate redevelopment into affordable housing.
