Climate Adaption and Mitigation - Planning or Assessment

Selected Strategy(ies)Explanatory Text
Evaluate Reuse options that consider impacts from extreme weather events and natural disastersDiscussion of observed and forecasted natural hazard conditions and the associated site-specific risk are part of any reuse considerations. Both current and forecasted extreme weather events and natural disasters may impact the effectiveness of a remedial alternative.

Addl Cleanup/Treatment info: Additional subsurface assessment of the site following an initial PII ESA was conducted to further assess volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which were associated with former dry-cleaning operations onsite, identified above state regulatory screening standards. VOCs were identified in surface soils and groundwater onsite. Planning for further vertical delineation of the groundwater contamination and possible cleanup of surface soil contamination through excavation or bioremediation are underway. LDEQ is working with their TBA contractor and the Center River National Heritage Area (applicant) to plan further assessment and possible remediation activities.

This is a reproduction of the original French fort that was the first development in Natchitoches when it began in 1714.The entire site has been redeveloped as a City pocket park known as Jefferson Street Park.
